13-18 Febru-rally 2025 – Change

Febru-rally was all about change.  We met at Wellspring House at the end of most people’s half term.  We had sessions where we thought about different areas of our lives that change.  During the first session, we looked at pictures that had an aspect about change about them, and these are some of the things the young people said about change:

Don’t waste opportunities

Time goes by quickly

Butterflies – they become stronger and more beautiful

Waves across a beach – you can have as many new starts as you need – you can wipe the slate clean

There is always more than one way you can look at life, and the way you look at life changes its meaning

Change is a path to getting to know yourself

We overthink things as we get older – our brains won’t stay still

The only thing no-one can take away from you is your memories

Change can be a nice thing, not always scary or bad

The next chapter – if you keep on thinking about the past, you won’t be thinking about the future

You are able to change things if you want to

Some people avoid change – others make the best out of a situation

Sessions

We looked at various Biblical characters that went through significant change, including Esther and Mary Magdalene, and considered the impact that change had on their lives.  We thought about how we might have behaved, had we been in their situation.  We also thought about world change and what concerns us, and made collages out of newspaper articles.  We also discussed the changes that happen in relationships as we grow older, and came up with ways in which we can keep ourselves safe.

Angels

One of our sessions was all about what happens to us when we go to the spiritual world.  We thought about how our physical bodies would no longer be needed, but that we would still have elements of the people we had been whilst in this world.  We discussed how we all have the potential to become angels, and that this is what the Lord wants for us.  We also made angels that will be part of the Festival of Angels later this year.

Febru-rally wasn’t all about sessions – we also had lots of fun.  On Friday afternoon we went to Heaton Park, and on Saturday we went into Manchester by tram.  We make the most of our time at the Manchester Museum of Illusions, and looked at our changing images in different situations.  Some of us felt tall for the first time in our lives, and we enjoying taking photos where we could trick others into thinking we were in impossible positions!  Some of us also joined in with a busker outside of the museum.  It’s amazing what can happen!

Thanks to all of the young people for making it such a memorable camp, and to the leaders for all of the work they put into it.

The next camp for 13-18s is Summer Camp – you can find the booking details here.
