18+ Weekends

18+ Weekends are generally held at Wellspring House a couple of times a year.  They are weekends of fun and laughter with opportunity for discussion at a deeper level than at camps for younger people.

The discussion sessions are held during the day on the Saturday and on the Sunday morning there is the option of going to worship at Kearsley New Church.

Upcoming Weekends

Watch this space for details of the next 18+ Weekend!  Look below to see what sort of thing to expect.

The most recent 18+ Weekend was 22nd – 24th November 2024.  Visit the blog to see what happened.

Sessions and Activities

We generally gather together on the Friday evening for some games.  There’s plenty of variety, accompanied by fun and laughter.

On the Saturday a Minister or experienced member of the church leads us in sessions.  There is a variety of presentation, whole-group discussion and work in smaller groups.  The theme for the weekends vary, but there is always something for everyone.

On the Saturday evening we tend to go out for a meal.  There are nice local restaurants, as well as a food hall that has opened nearby.

Sunday morning generally takes the form of clearing up and going to Kearsley New Church for a time of shared worship with the local community.

Leadership Team for 18+ Weekend November 2024

Hi, I’m Jenny. I’ve been involved in the New Church all my life and have been a Youth leader for about 9 years. I am also a primary school teacher (although I work in a secondary school) and one of my favourite places in the world is Purley Chase.

The most important (and best part of my job) is helping to bring children, young adults and families together to have fun, learn together and laugh together. I love to see everyone making new friends and catching up with old friends too. In my spare time I like to read, spend time with friends (preferably drinking tea and eating cake!) and watch and sing along to musicals.

Hi, I’m Brian.  I’m 64 years young.  I retired from refereeing local football 7 years ago after 37 years.  I currently have been umpiring cricket for 12 years.  Other hobbies I have, are to find modern, inspired hymns and Christian songs for my congregation in Bolton, Lancashire.

As well as being a Christian minister, I have taught secondary Maths for 25 years.  I also believe that God talks to us in many different ways, but with me he does so particularly through the Bible, through the Writings of Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) and through dreams.

I love exploring new ideas and relating spirituality to real life issues.  I am not afraid to tackle any ethical or spiritual conundrum.

I liked having the opportunity to have discussions at a deeper level.
It was great to go out for a meal while we were there.
Going to Kearsley New Church on the Sunday morning was made the weekend really special.
