18+ Summer Camp 2025
Our 18 plus summer camp was held at Kildwick New church in North Yorkshire in June 2025. The camp ran from Friday to Wednesday and is a drop in week, so young people are able to attend whichever days suit them best!
On Saturday we were joined by Chris Chambers to lead us on a morning of sessions discussing the topic of ‘sex, gender and marriage’. We looked at a variety of bibles verses and discussed the traditional and alternatives viewpoints as well as the traditional Swedenborgian view on these issues. On Saturday afternoon we enjoyed going bowling and a evening meal and drinks in the local area.
On Sunday we attended the service at Keighley New Church. After the service we volunteered helping to rake and level out stone chippings in the driveway. We were then thanked by an abundance of sausage sandwiches for lunch! On Sunday afternoon we went for a beautiful walk by the canal near Kildwick and had a campfire in the evening making smores!
On Monday, we were joined by Rev Christine Bank who led us in a day of sessions focusing on the Gospels and the story of Samson. We used the New Church Christian Chatbot to help us develop our understanding of the spiritual significance of the story.
On Tuesday, we took the train to Leeds City Centre where we visited the Leeds Museum and went shopping in the Corn Exchange. On our final evening, we enjoyed having a film night.
It was a fantastic week and a great opportunity for the young people from across the country to come together through a variety of social and spiritual activities.
